Olney, Illinois, may be best known for its famous white squirrels, but for the Sterchi family, it’s also where a homebuilding legacy began.

Long before Sterchi Homes became a name in the Evansville and Newburgh homebuilding community, Carl Sterchi was building a foundation of his own.

Carl spent many years working as a carpenter and plumber in the Olney area, where he owned and operated Sterchi Plumbing and Heating. Alongside his work in the trades, he also built family homes.

It was through this hands-on environment that his son, Brad Sterchi, first learned about homebuilding.

From Early Lessons to Sterchi Homes Corp.

Brad carried the knowledge and experience gained from his father into a homebuilding career of his own.

He went on to establish Sterchi Homes Corp., building a business rooted in practical experience, attention to detail, and pride in the work.

While Carl introduced Brad to the building trades, it was Brad who established the family’s professional homebuilding business and developed the reputation associated with the Sterchi Homes name.

For Brad, building homes has always involved more than the finished product. It’s about understanding the process, knowing the work, and recognizing the responsibility that comes with building a home for another family.

Growing Up Around the Family Business

For Brad’s son, Kyle Sterchi, the homebuilding industry was part of everyday life from an early age.

Growing up around construction, Kyle had the opportunity to learn firsthand from his father, just as Brad had learned from Carl years before.

Those experiences helped shape Kyle’s understanding of the work involved in building homes.

The Next Generation of Sterchi Homes

Today, Kyle leads Sterchi Homes LLC, carrying forward the family tradition while building his own chapter of the Sterchi story.

Brad remains actively involved alongside Kyle, continuing to contribute his knowledge, experience, and support to the business.

Their working relationship reflects something that has connected all three generations: learning through experience, staying close to the work, and taking pride in what they build.

Today, Brad and Kyle continue working together on residential construction projects throughout the Evansville and Newburgh area. Whether on a homesite in Hawthorne II or elsewhere in the communities Sterchi Homes serves, their shared involvement reflects the family’s hands-on approach to homebuilding.

A Family Name Behind Every Home

Today, Sterchi Homes continues building in Evansville, Newburgh, and the surrounding Southern Indiana area.

Home styles, materials, and design preferences may change over time, but the family’s connection to the work remains.

From Carl’s years in the trades in Olney, to Brad’s establishment of Sterchi Homes Corp., to Kyle’s leadership of Sterchi Homes LLC today, each generation has contributed its own chapter.

And that history is more than something to look back on.

It’s part of the work still happening on jobsites today.

Three generations. One family tradition. A name that continues to stand behind the homes they build.
